Muscle tears and strains

  • Acute and chronic tendon injuries
  • Joint injury and sprains
  • Ligament tears and sprains
  • Specific sports injuries such as jumpers’ knee, footballers’ ankle, golfers’ elbow, tennis elbow
  • ’Shin splints’
  • Children & teenage sports injuries

Musculoskeletal Conditions

  • Assessment and treatment of soft tissue injury including muscle, ligament, tendon, joint, fascia and nerve irritation or trapped nerve
  • Low back pain
  • Disc problems and bulges
  • Achilles tendinopathy
  • Elbow pain such as golfer’s and tennis elbow
  • Stress fractures
  • Pain or injury of sudden onset eg. whiplash injuries
  • Pain or injury of gradual onset eg. frozen shoulder
  • Postural assessments, awareness and re-education training and strengthening

Thigh, Groin & Hip

Thigh front quadriceps, often associated with kicking, direct trauma, sprinting

Back hamstrings: sprinting, kicking injuries

Hip is one of the most common joints to get arthritis

Lower Back Conditions

Most people, around 80%, will have back pain at some stage during their lives. Most back pain is caused by muscle, ligament or joint sprain. It can also be caused by a slipped disc, trapped nerve, arthritis or osteoporosis.

The best way to deal with back pain is to stay as active as you can but problems are often complex & require a carefully monitored rehabilitation programme for complete recovery.

Wrist & Hand

There are both traumatic & chronic examples of injuries to the wrist & hand. Sprains, strains, breaks & fractures can be caused by contact sport or falls.

Repetitive injuries can be caused by typing/keyboard & repetitive actions at work. Identifying the underlying cause & correcting this is vital to addressing the whole problem.

Shoulder Problems

The shoulder has an extensive range of movement, because of this the shoulder is prone to injury, this can be impingement, instability or frozen shoulder. The shoulder girdle is commonly involved in postural problems as well as direct or indirect trauma & referred pain.

Neck Pain

Neck pain is very common. It can be caused by whiplash injuries, postural problems and sleeping awkwardly (crick).

Headaches & Migraine

Commonly due to upper neck disorders & often related to postural position. Often associated with stressful sitting positions at a computer terminal

Foot & Heel

Foot & Heel pains are commonly associated with biomechanical problems.

Knee

Commonly caused by cartilage or ligament tears associated with twisting action in sports like, football, soccer, rugby, skiing. The knee is also prone to arthritis. Runners’ & jumpers’ knee are often caused by overuse injuries.

Shins

Most commonly related to biomechanical running conditions. Can be due to incorrect footwear or poor control of the limbs due to muscle imbalances.
